| The young songwriter Violet Sanford (Piper Perabo) moves, against the advice of her dad (John Goodman), from her home town of South Amboy, New Jersey, to New York City, in order to realize her dream of becoming a professional songwriter. Searching for a job to tide her over, she finds one as a bar maid at one of the hottest clubs of the town, the Coyote Ugly, where she attains some notoriety in her own right. While still working on her initial career, she falls in love with Kevin (Adam Garcia). Soon Violet (nicknamed "Jersey" by her boss Lil (Maria Bello)) finds that breaking into the music business isn't as easy as she thought it would be, especially when one suffers from stage fright. | |

In some ways, that's easier for me because I can say, "Oh yeah, I get that all the time!" .. the meaning of "Coyote Ugly": "It means you are so drunk, and you go home with someone on a one-night stand. And you wake up in the morning and you see them and would rather chew your arm off than wake them up -- like a coyote in a trap." |
